BF6 Gamers Agree: Challenges Are Way Too Hard

The launch of the much-awaited Battlefield 6 garnered broad praise, especially for its top-tier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are voicing discontent with a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are necessary to access certain guns.

Players have started using tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to achieve these objectives, highlighting just how grueling these challenges have become.

Grasping BF6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four categories of assignments, but although many only reward skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these locked weapons may soon find their way on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Gamer Backlash via Reddit

Over on Reddit, players are reasonably voicing their concerns about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Subdue 300 opponents with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to tear my hair out," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many advantages in battle as it used to in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, firing an LMG without aiming is wildly inaccurate and only works at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

A different forum member highlighted another ridiculously tough challenge, within the sniper rifle category to access the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations over 200m with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at that kind of range.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game currently, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe Operation Firestorm if you're lucky if you want to snipe from a significant distance.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a system that permits you to make custom game modes on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't exactly feel like the developer's vision.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match appears to work against fun, since you are forced to participate in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for completing them in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?

Upcoming Tweaks

It is expected if several of these tasks are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply will never acquire the gated weapons.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these strenuous battlefield assignments, hoping for a fairer overall gameplay in future updates.
